Pearle*, the European federation representing the employers in the European sectoral social dialogue committee ‘live performance’, welcomes the exchange between European Vice President Mînzatu and social partners, on the future of a Quality Jobs Roadmap.
Pearle* welcomes that the Commission embeds the exchange on a Quality Jobs Roadmap in the EU policy objectives, set out in the Competitiveness Compass and the Union of Skills, thereby underlining the role of social partners.
Referring to a Pearle* declaration adopted in November 2023 on good employment, we reiterate the role of employers as facilitators for work within a context of fair conditions for those employed by and working with them, thereby adhering to existing laws, as follows:
“Acknowledging the diverse range of organisations represented by Pearle* members, from profit-driven enterprises to non-profit entities, with workforces ranging from over a thousand employees to micro-enterprises employing just one to three individuals, we cultivate a positive work environment. We prioritise the well-being and growth of individuals in the workplace and emphasise the added value of training and professional development, empowering people to enhance their skills and careers. Additionally, we place great importance on health and safety at work, considering risk prevention a joint activity based on mutual feedback to improve the workplace collectively.
All stakeholders and various players in the sector benefit from fair practices. We firmly believe in the significance of collective agreements (which include provisions on working time, rest periods, vacation, pay, and other aspects). Such agreements create a level playing field for those working in the sector and contribute to a fair and just environment."
These contain in our view the key elements for a quality jobs roadmap, provided sectoral characteristics of the labour markets, the level of labour-intensity, and the typology and variety of the jobs are taken into account.
In a sector such as the live performance which is made by and for humans, and attention is paid to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities, Pearle* looks forward to contribute to the ensuing consultation process on the future quality job roadmap.
