2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage . It will put the spotlight on Europe's wealth of cultural heritage, showcasing its role in fostering a shared sense of identity and building the future of Europe.
On Stage 2018 is Europe's first unique online calendar of selected high profile performing events across the continent.
On Stage 2018 celebrates the rich and dynamic role played in Europe's cultural legacy with a series of theater, opera, dance and other performances hero throughout the year. Additional events including behind-the-scenes tours, readings and interviews will support the performance program.
On Stage 2018 is a distinctive selection of performances, dates and venues to be discovered by citizens in European countries. The online guide is updated with new perfromances happening in incredible venues all around Europe, and it bridges artists, presenter and audices like never before.
On Stage 2018 is a project carried out by three major performing arts organists on a European level: European Theater Convention , Opera Europe / Opera Vision and Pearle * connect - through their members' organizations - thounsands of art venues across the European Union.
On Stage 2018 events - whether presented onstage, backstage or online - European and European talent: that demonstrates the ongoing contribution of European discourse and identity.
2018 - European Year of Cultural Heritage
Cultural heritage is the fabric of our lives and societies. It is surrounded by natural landscapes and archaeological sites. It is not only made up of literature, art and objects but also by the crafts we learn, the stories we tell, the food we eat and the movies we watch. European cultural heritage allows us to understand the past and our future.
The European Year of Cultural Heritage aims to:
- encourage people to explore Europe's rich and diverse cultural heritage
- celebrate, understand and protect its unique value
- reflect the cultural heritage occupies in all our lives
