2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage. Pearle* - Live Performance Europe together with the European Theatre Convention (ETC) and Opera Europa/OperaVision proudly present our new joint website dedicated to European live performance traditions.
Onstage2018.eu is an online programme guide for dates, venues, and performances held from January through December 2018, celebrating the rich and dynamic role played by the performing arts in Europe's cultural legacy.
Be it onstage, backstage or online – every event is selected according to pre-defined criteria, to represent a key aspect of the European live performance tradition: Not only classical works, but also important national productions, renowned artists and up-and-coming European talents.
The online guide will be regularly updated by participating members, as they select and add new events to the programme.
A recent Eurobarometer showed that 80% of respondents believe that cultural heritage is important for the EU, and 82% take pride in their cultural heritage and believe it is a relevant aspect of feeling European. Our stages offer audiences the rich and vital history of our European live performance tradition, but are also platforms for defining and sharing our contemporary identities.
PEARLE*-Live Performance Europe and the ETC were selected by the European Commission as members of the stakeholder committee on the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
