The Implementation of the EU Green Deal in the Live Performance Sector: Evidence from the Field
This internal study, conducted by Pearle*, is based on 10 in-depth interviews with performing arts organisations across Europe. The report explores how the EU Green is being implemented in the live performance sector by gathering insights from both large and small organisations, representing a variety of aesthetics and disciplines, including concert venues, festivals, operas, orchestras, and theatres.

Participating organisations include Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano e Trento (IT), Kloden Teater (NO), The Prague National Theatre Opera and State Opera (CZ), Helsinki City Theatre (FI), The National Opera Finland (FI), The Valley of Arts Festival (HU), Burgtheater Vienna (AT), TivoliVredenburg (NL), Patronaat (NL), and 013 Poppodium (NL).

Through a qualitative approach, the report categorises sustainability strategies based on the primary focus areas discussed in each interview. This study aims to shed light on the practical implementation of the EU Green Deal in the cultural sector, highlighting good practices and innovative ideas, as well as challenges and areas for further development.

The report also includes a brief summary of the INSPIRE Labour market needs analysis report that looks at skills needs in the performing arts sector in terms of green, digital, entrepreneurial, resilience and soft skills.
