VISAS PROCEDURES FOR ARTISTS AND CULTURAL PROFESSIONALS TO BE IMPROVED

In response to the Commission consultation on the modernisation of EU visa Schengen policy, Pearle* calls to improve the visa procedures so that third country national artists and cultural professionals can travel more easily to and in-out the Schengen zone.

In Pearle’s view a general and harmonized approach for legitimate third-country national travelers has to be the basis in order to provide transparency and clear rules. However, the EU can also respond to the specific needs of sectors, such as it has done to accommodate needs by employers for highly qualified or for seasonal work, or in the case of research and education purposed, and in the context of the visa code for seafarers or in the case of Olympic games.
