European Theatre Convention’s (ETC) new programme was especially created to allow the theatrical profession to thrive at the very highest level, creating art that is diverse and reflects society, and that springs from and can speak to a fast-changing society, so to bring the gift of theatre to the largest possible audience.
As part of the project, ETC engages on a cross-sectorial level via two strong strategic partnerships to strengthen cooperation and capacity building between Europe's theatre sector and the leading performance art organizations in teaming up with Opera Europa and Pearle*.
Joint cultural heritage campaign of Europe’s major performing art organisations
To kick off the cooperation, the partners will initiate a joint campaign to launch in 2018 as part of the EU Year of Cultural Heritage. The campaign will celebrate the performing arts in Europe and promote access to European cultural heritage through performing arts on the new digital platform, onstage2018.eu.
Strategic partnership with Pearle*
ETC and PEARLE* will team up as strategic partners in ENGAGE to strengthen the sector’s capacities in the following policy areas: data protection, web accessibility and increasing access to the arts for minority groups (inclusion for disabilities) via a structured exchange of information.
Two main themes will be tackled by the partnership:
- capacity building for the sector, especially regarding legal, social and financial aspects for transnational cooperation with workshops
- exploring forms of digitization in the performing arts, with an emphasis on legal aspects.
In addition, the partnership extends to joint advocacy actions such as the performing arts campaign in 2018 with high profile event with key policy makers in Brussels to promote access to and awareness of cultural heritage.
